As you know BMOREHOOPS does not do player or team rankings, but we do like to keep you in the “hoop” about what female ballers you should be watching…so here’s my snapshot of the female ballers 2 BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR…

SENIORS

Asia Logan, Digital Harbor (Pittsburgh)
This versatile forward is a player of the year candidate. She’s on her way to the Big East next year but I expect
her to put up big numbers and end her career at UMBC this year. At 6’1″ she was recruited by everyone because she can leap over defenders on her way to the rim or drop threes on them at will.

Sherrone Vails, Arundel (Louisville)
This 6’5″ center will dominate Anne Arundel county this season with her low post presence and shot blocking. She will also bring the ball up the court when necessary. Louisville beat out Duke, Uconn and other tops schools.

Shatyra Hawkes, St.Frances (Xavier of Ohio)
Lil Mama, as they like to call her, scores points in bunches. She has more heart than any player I’ve seen. She will play both guard positions and St. Frances will be playing for another IAAM championship because of her.

lashay-taftLashay Taft, City (undecided)
Everyone wants to know where Shay will be playing college ball. She had a great summer and James Madison and Providence are the front-runners. She will break some ankles this winter with her killer crossover and her range is just inside half court.

Jess Harlee Fallston (West Virginia)
Jess is out with a knee injury but is trying to make it back this season. She committed to W.Virginia this summer and lead Fallston to a state title last year.

Janay Brinkley, Digital Harbor (undecided)
Janay is an explosive player who can handle both guard spots. Her game weaknesses are minimal, and transferring to Digital with Asia Logan should be enough firepower to get them back to UMBC for a shot at another title.

brianna-hutchenBrianna “Breezy” Hutchen, St.Frances (undecided)
Breezy is a skilled scoring forward who will be deciding on a D1 school soon. She will be running the court with Hawkes and you can count on seeing them playing for another IAAM title. She was co-mvp of the Bmore Hoops Anniversary game with Taft.

Deanna Harmon, St.Frances, Delaware State
Deanna plays with intensity from the jump ball to the final buzzer. She takes the ball to the rack without fear every time and can lockdown on defense. She is part of the triple H attack with Hawkes and Hutchen at St.Frances.

Ashle Craig, Western, (Coppin State)
This is a tenacious defender who will be in your grille the whole game. She sets the tempo for Western’s defense and will be seen stripping the ball from unsuspecting point guards who cross her path this season. She will be at Coppin State next season.

chelsea-dukesChelsea Dukes, Seton Keough, (undecided)
Dukes transferred to Keough after Towson Catholic closed. Her experience and shooting range will help her new school contend for another IAAM title. She is trying to decided between North Carolina Central, Mount St.Mary’s and NJIT for college.

Shantrel Oliver, River Hill (undecided)
This high scoring point guard is looking to lead her team back to UMBC for another shot at a state title. Bryant University and Sienna are trying to lure her north for college.

Kamyia Surgeon, Annapolis (undecided)
By far the most athletic female baller in the area. She is explosive and has some nice moves when slashing to the rim. Ladies beware, she will pin your shot on the glass. Coppin State is trying to close the deal.

Melanie Williamson, Poly, (Wagner)
Mel just committed to taking her game to Staten Island to run the point for Wagner. First she will be trying to help her new team make their mark this season. She transferred to Poly
from Towson Catholic.

Tiffany Taylor, Aberdeen (undecided)
This 5’5″ combo guard gets buckets in a major way. She will be one of the top scorers in the state.
